Ontology of modified gravitational theories and cosmology

The PhD project studies the foundations of contemporary cosmological theories, with a focus on the spacetime structure of modified theories of gravity. It aims to analyze how different theoretical frameworks account for dark matter and dark energy, and how modifications of the structure of general relativity may provide alternative approaches. The research is based on a close examination of the dynamical and geometrical assumptions underlying cosmological models. Particular attention is given to the variety of modifications of the affine and metric structures that underlie several proposals for modified gravity.
