SSD: PHYS-01/A

CFU: 3 CFU + assignment: 2 CFU

Period: January–February 2026

Lessons / Hours: 15 hours, 7 lectures

Program:

The course addresses the fundamental aspects of ionizing radiation sources, particle interactions with matter, and radiation-induced damage. Students will acquire comprehensive knowledge of the production mechanisms and interaction processes of charged and uncharged particles, spanning a wide mass range. Particular emphasis will be placed on the effects of radiation on matter, including exposure, absorbed dose, and equivalent dose. Problem-solving sessions and exercises will be an integral part of the course.
