Machine Learning for decision support in image interpretation in pathology
My project centers on applications of artificial intelligence in anatomic pathology, contributing to the ongoing advancements in computational pathology.
By using advanced technologies like Convolutional Neural Networks and Vision Transformers, my goal is to digitally analyze Whole Slide Images (WSI), which are characterized by extremely large size, and high information content. This approach aims to assist pathologists in identifying diseases, reducing the reliance on manual microscopic examinations. The identification of relevant objects (cells, tissues, organs) will be based on an ontology, thus harmonizing symbolic and subsymbolic approaches.
I aspire to integrate the developed AI models into pathology workflow. This integration not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also supports precision medicine, ultimately contributing to the cost-effectiveness of healthcare systems.
