Program:

  • Congruences and geodesic congruences, and their properties
  • Symmetries in generally covariant theories
  • Causal structure and asymptotic structure of solutions to the Einstein equations
  • Penrose diagrams
  • Newman-Penrose formalism

Verification: Written final exam with problems/exercises and/or selected individual final project

Prerequisites: Basic ideas in general relativity (students lacking this background are encouraged to make contact in advance with the teacher, as a crash course on necessary prerequisites can be provided on demand)
