An Edu-Metaverse framework to foster knowledge gain and retention

The metaverse concept has recently gained popularity as a prospective digital realm seamlessly integrating physical reality and virtual environments, resulting in a perpetual and collaborative multiuser space. Riding the wave of technological advances, the fusion of learning and the metaverse offers a promising avenue for new research in computer-supported education. This research project introduces an Edu-Metaverse framework, leveraging Artificial Intelligence to create immersive virtual environments. It allows users to learn where and when they want, providing an immersive and personalized educational experience. The project unfolds through several phases, including literature review, iterative design and development, framework proposal, user evaluation, and synthesis of best practices to design Edu-Metaverse experiences for different application domains. The primary goal of this research is to foster education by improving knowledge gain and retention as well as user engagement through immersive and interactive virtual learning environments.
