Research Project

Biomass and solar energy, innovative ancient technologies

The focus of my PhD research revolved around the synergy of two ancient yet highly promising technologies-biomass utilization and solar energy harnessing. Within this interdisciplinary exploration, our team is dedicated to the development and enhancement of a novel gasifier and a linear mirror solar energy trap.

Our primary objective is to push the boundaries of gasification technology by optimizing the newly designed gasifier to efficiently convert various types of biomasses. To gasify materials like straw, gasification has to be able to operate at temperatures below as melting point of straw. This transformative process aims to yield a high-quality biofuel gas that can be utilized for sustainable energy purposes.

Similarly, we are pioneering the application of the linear mirror solar energy trap. This cutting-edge technology is engineered to capture and harness solar energy throughout the day. Our goal is to maximize the efficiency of solar energy conversion and to provide high temperatures also in winter, contributing to the creation of a robust and renewable energy source.

By seamlessly integrating these advancements in gasification and solar energy capture, our research project is positioned at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation. The comprehensive approach not only addresses the challenges of biomass conversion but also strives to create a harmonious and environmentally friendly energy production system. Through this pioneering work, we aim to contribute significantly to the broader landscape of renewable energy solutions, forging a path toward a more sustainable and greener future.
