Bachelor degree programmes in:

In order to obtain the Computer Science, Internet of Things, Big Data & Web Bachelor Degree or the Web and Multimedia Technology Bachelor Degree, it is compulsory for students to undertake an activity worth 9 internship course credits (225 hours).

On the University internship portal, you can find details of how this is regulated and a list, with contact details, of companies already affiliated for such activities. Choose among the ones which have  an ‘X’ in the mat_inf column.

The internship may begin when (according to the Esse3 system), you have earned at least 99 course credits and you have passed all the first-year exams.

As soon as you meet such requirements (or you know that you very soon will), please directly contact the companies using the references in the above-mentioned file. They will assign you to some specific project, based on which you will be able to choose an internal supervisor (a teaching staff member from any of our programmes). If you have any questions, please contact the programme tutors, who will be happy to give you some directions. If you require further clarification, please contact the internship contact person for your study programme.

A well-written account of the work carried out during the internship, accompanied by an analysis of the state of the art, may become your final thesis. In such cases, the supervisor of your thesis will be the internal contact person for the internship, and the assistant supervisor will be the company contact person.

Application procedure for internships

• For EXTERNAL internships:
  30 days before the start date of the internship, regardless of the affiliation status of the company (the company may be already affiliated with the University or the affiliation procedure is yet to be initiated):
  • students identify their academic tutor and the company within which to complete their internship;
  • the academic tutor verifies that the company is eligible for an internship;
• if the company is not yet affiliated then the student asks the hosting party to complete the internship agreement (2 original copies) and the company sheet, at least 10 days before the start of the internship. The student delivers all the documentation to the Internship Office (Ufficio Tirocini);
  • the student fills out the training and orientation plan (PFO) with the help of the company tutor, who must sign the plan, and delivers an original copy to the Internship Office at least 10 working days before the internship starts;
  • when the procedure has been registered, an electronic copy of the plan is sent by email to the hosting part and to the intern, who also receives a log-book for recording his/her attendance;
  • at the end of the internship, the student delivers the log-book to the Internship Office, duly filled in and signed by the company tutor and by the academic tutor. The intern and company tutor each fill out some questionnaires, which the student must deliver to the Internship Office together with the internship log-book.
• For INTERNAL internships, the procedure begins at point 4.

The written report on the work carried out during the internship may constitute the document discussed during the final examination.

Working students employed in the computer science field

Students who have been working in the field of Computer Science for several years may apply for recognition of their work for internship purposes (without the need to affiliate the company) by submitting the request with a €. 16,00 stamp to amce@uniud.it together with the documentation that attests to their working experience accompanied by a detailed report of at least 10 A4 pages which must contain:

1. an introduction: motivations and objectives of the project;
2. The type of analysis performed in order to identify the issue being addressed, the corresponding stakeholders and their requirements;
3. How the project was organised (from the student’s perspective): roles and responsibilities, organisational and logistical details and infrastructures;
4. The design work performed by the student: for instance, a user interface, an architecture or a back-end;
5. What implementation tools were chosen and how they were used;
6. Verification and analysis activities, such as tests of functions, performance, usability, acceptance and security.
