Curricular internships for the Multimedia Communication and Information Technology Programme

The educational regulations for master degree programmes require an internship period at a company, university or research institute, under the supervision of a company tutor and an academic tutor and within the framework of appropriate agreements entered into between the University and the company/organisation. The Internship Committee reserves the right to check the relevance of the company’s activities to the degree programme. All forms to be completed, the list of affiliated companies and announcements can be found in the Internships Section of the University website.

FAQ

This does not constitute employment but, rather, a practical work experience as part of the training process. Its objective is to facilitate career choices through direct familiarity with the world of production and services.

Current legislation does not require interns to be paid, although the hosting party may, optionally, provide payment.

Friuli Venezia Giulia region only:

In order to take on interns, companies in the region must have at least one permanent employee.
In the absence of this prerequisite, the training plan cannot be activated.
ref. Ministerial Decree 142/98 + Circular Letter no. 92 of 15 July 1998

Companies where internships are conducted must be affiliated with the University of Udine. A list of these can be viewed and downloaded at the link mentioned above. The Internship Committee reserves the right to check the relevance of the company to the degree programme.

Documentation to be submitted for companies already affiliated:

  • One copy of the External PFO (External Training and Orientation Plan);
  • One copy of the INAIL form for the Italian Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (internships abroad only)

It is also possible to conduct internships within the University, at one of its structures or internally to the degree course, to be agreed with the Multimedia Science and Technology (STM) Technical Office. In this case, it is sufficient to submit one copy of the Internal PFO (Internal Training and orientation plan).

It is compulsory for placements to be conducted at affiliated companies. If the chosen organisation does not meet this requirement, the company (directly or through the student) must submit, to the Academic Office (Segreteria Didattica) for Multimedia Science and Technology (STM) and Multimedia Communication and Information Technology (CMTI) at the Polyfunctional Centre (Centro Polifunzionale) in Pordenone, the documentation necessary for the affiliation procedure:

If your current working experience is temporary and relevant to the Multimedia Communication and Information Technology Bachelor Degree Programme, you can apply to the Study Programme Board for recognition of the work carried out (for a number of hours coherent with the internship course credits indicated in your study plan).

Finally, if your situation of a working student is compatible with that of an intern, you may be able to choose a holiday period (or take a leave of absence) long enough to enable you to conduct a placement (it is, in any case, imperative that work hours and internship hours do not take place during the same period).

The procedure is similar to the one followed for establishing affiliation with a company: the forms, to be requested from the Internship Office (Ufficio Tirocini) or the Academic Office (Segreteria Didattica) of the Multimedia Communication and Information Technology Bachelor Degree Programme, must be in Italian and the language of the destination country (the latter may, if necessary, be replaced with English).
